I am setting off alone on a hiking trip with a distance of 1,600 km and over 51,000 elevation gain in the mountains along the Main Sudetes Trail, the Prudnik-Ustroń Connector, the Main Beskid Trail and the Blue Rzeszów-Grybów Trail. I plan to complete the trail in a maximum of 45 days, including 3 days of rest.
My goal this year:
During the expedition, I want to raise funds for terminally ill children under the care of the Little Prince Hospice. The collected funds will enable the purchase of medicines, dressings and hygiene products necessary for the daily care of young patients under the careful care of home hospice and stationary hospice.
I realize that this is a drop in the ocean of the needs of this unique place and although I believe that kindness has no price, I am sure that the amount collected will be at least a small brick of help for hospice children.
I am determined to achieve my goal and I set off on the trail at the end of June. Patience and perseverance will help me struggle with my own weaknesses and collect as much money as possible for the unique heroes of the Little Prince Hospice.
Who am I?
My name is Dawid, I work in a warehouse every day and in my free time I train to hike mountain trails. I have been hiking in the mountains since 2020, and it all started by accident – with the desire to climb Mount Czantoria with my friend in winter, which unfortunately ended in failure due to lack of proper preparation. The next day I received the necessary equipment from a friend and we set off to the mountains… then I learned about long-distance trails and that’s how my adventure with mountain hiking began, which continues to this day… Later I thought about combining my passion with helping children in hospice, which is a huge thing for me motivation and gives me strength to achieve my goal.
Why Children’s Hospice? Lublin Children’s Hospice named after The Little Prince provides free 24-hour medical care to the most seriously ill children in their homes in Lublin and the Lublin Voivodeship. Hospice allows a child to stay at home while maintaining high standards of medical, psychological, pedagogical, social and spiritual care. Currently, 54 children are under the care of home hospice and 8 children are in the inpatient ward in Lublin. The aim of hospice care is to improve the quality of life of those under our care by providing them with specialized medical care.
Please donate to the children’s hospice and keep your fingers crossed for me!
